Summer Must Haves

Summer Must Haves

We are well into summer now and have discovered some things that have been super helpful and must haves to keep us cool and having fun!

See some summer activities to do with toddlers, HERE.

These summer must haves are items we have loved so far this season and will continue to use throughout these warm days!

Summer means spending tons of time outside and soaking up the longer days! This year, I have noticed my go to summer products and have rounded them all up for you below in case you are looking for some new summer goodies!

SUMMER MUST HAVES

This is kind of a random list of things that have been must haves for myself, John Paul, Dominic, and Freddy!!

SUNSCREEN: I switched Dominic’s sunscreen to this one after reading all about sunscreen on the EWG website. This one is very low on the rating system. Smells really nice and goes on easily. I use it on myself too.

BUG SPRAY: I made my own bug spray using my essential oils. No feeling of greasy residue and I don’t feel like I have to shower immediately after coming inside from wearing it. It has helped keep the bug bites to a minimum.
Recipe:
2 oz amber spray bottle
10 drops each: citronella, lavender, lemongrass, tea tree
splash of witch hazel
fill the rest with water

FLOATIES: Since we have a pool, these arm floaties have been great for Dominic. He can’t swim yet so these just give him an extra buoyancy in the pool as we hold him. Makes us all feel a little safer.

WATER BOTTLE: We can’t drink enough water in the summer or any time really. See my thoughts on purified water HERE. These water bottles have helped to keep us hydrated all summer long, Freddy included!

WATER TABLE: Dominic loves splashing around in this water table. He throws his toys in it and plays with all the included ‘gadgets.’ Definitely a summer staple!

HOUSEPLANTS: I can’t get enough houseplants! I have been obsessed with my new little hobby and enjoy watering them every Monday and seeing them grow. See my beginner’s guide to houseplants HERE.

DRESSES: Being in my 3rd trimester this summer, dresses have pretty much been my go to wardrobe item! They are light and easy and still make me feel put together!

EASY DINNERS: We try to grill as much as possible during the summer to make clean up easy and to make quick dinners. We do lots of salads with our favorite homemade dressing (RECIPE HERE).

POPSICLE MOLDS: We have been making lots of popsicles this summer. Here is one of our fave recipes! These molds have been so helpful and easy to use!

POOL/BEACH BAG: This bag is perfect for fitting everything that we need to take when going to the pool, beach, splash pad, etc! It holds a ton from bathing suits to extra clothes to towels, to shoes, to lunches/snacks, to diapers/wipes, to toys, to water bottles, and more! We got it for our wedding shower and it has been so convenient this summer!

TRAVEL BAG: This bag is beautiful and is great quality vegan leather. It has several pockets inside with a removable shoulder strap. It’s perfect for a weekend getaway. It fits the perfect amount of things.

GATHRE MAT: We love taking this mat outside for snack and playtime. It cleans up so easily and folds up nicely if we are taking it on the go!
