Weekend Closet Makeover

Weekend Closet Makeover

A few weeks ago, I had this brilliant idea to makeover my closet. It was something I sort of just thought of on a whim, but finally put it all into action this weekend when my sister came to visit. I think it turned out so amazing & it is now the perfect oasis!

With a little help from my easy DIY drop cloth curtains (HERE), some paint, and hard work, we transformed this space!

My weekend closet makeover was a success and now this room is my favorite!

Clothes and mirror

This closet is a pretty decent size & had so much untouched potential.  I took down all the old shelving that was already falling apart.

There is paneling (or vertical shiplap as we lovingly referred to it all weekend) on almost every single wall which made the space so dark.  The trim, window trim, door, & built in were all dark brown too.

PAINTING THE CLOSET

I knew the first thing I wanted to do was PAINT because it would instantly transform the room.  I chose Behr Silent White to brighten the space.  It took about 3 coats to really cover all the dark wood/brown.

CLOSET SHELVING

Instead of replacing the shelving, I used these garment racks. For only about $9 they are a steal & work great. They are light weight & I can move them wherever I want. They hold all of my clothes too.

FINAL TOUCHES

I replaced the mirror with this beauty from Hayneedle. I think it is one of those "skinny mirrors" LOL because it always makes you look good!

The light fixture also had to go! This one from Amazon was a quick fix & added a little touch of farmhouse in here.

I got rid of the ugly brown shade & used drop cloth curtains. Read how to make some for yourself HERE They might be my favorite part of this room. The curtain rod is from Target & now I want to use them all over my house! Another great farmhouse touch.

I added the little console table to store purses, accessories, etc. I gave this a makeover using Amy Howard at Home paint. I will be blogging all about it later this week. I love the transformation of this piece & it fits so perfect in here now!

I always say, paint really makes a difference & this room might be the biggest transformation to date.  My sister was a huge help in getting this all done in a weekend.  My hubby also pitched in to help remove the old shelving & hang the curtain rods.

This was a team effort that came together so beautifully.  I seriously want to just hang out in here ALL THE TIME!  It is the perfect space to get ready in the morning now.
