Fairy and Butterfly First Birthday Party

Fairy and Butterfly First Birthday Party

We celebrated Gigi’s birthday over the weekend and it was such a sweet day for her!

See Dominic’s DIY taco bar birthday party HERE.

We decided on a whimsical fairy and butterfly party for her first birthday and it was so magical!

We had the best day celebrating Giulietta turning one! I wanted to create a whimsical fairy garden for her birthday party.

We kept it very simple and did a sub tray and pita platter for food. We made a big pasta salad and panzanella salad as well. For appetizers, we made a charcuterie board and chips and salsa. It was very minimal to prep which was so nice!

I love how everything came together! It truly felt so magical and we all had such a good day!

We used this beautiful tablecloth that John Paul’s grandmother cross stitched. It was the perfect back drop for all the fairy and butterfly decor.

Fairy and butterfly party

We used my MIL’s cranberry glass to put different flowers in that we picked from her garden. We chose only a few stems in yellow, purple, and pink to match with the colors of the party. We also made ‘fairy wands’ which were pretzels dipped in white chocolate and topped with flower sprinkles—they were a huge hit!

Mushroom cupcakes

We made pink mushroom cupcakes and topped them with white chocolate chips and fairies/flowers. I placed these on a large stump tray to bring in some natural elements.

Naked smash cake

My MIL made Gigi a naked smash cake which we put on another stump tray. Around the bottom, I placed a flower crown and topped it with a glitter ‘one’ and 2 little fairies.

Sugar cookies

I also made some sugar cut out cookies with Dominic. Then my Mom, MIL, and I decorated them with pink icing, gold sprinkles and pink sprinkles.

Down the center of the table, I found this really pretty flower twinkle light garland which was the perfect amount of sparkle.

Plates and napkins

The plates and napkins were my favorite finds!!!! They kind of set the tone for the whole party and when I saw them, I knew I wanted to do a fairy garden type party.

Butterflies on the light

I hung little butterflies from the light to add a bit more color and to create some fun movement above. It was a fun little touch.

Balloon arch

Lastly, we made a balloon arch! My Mom and I worked on it the night before her party and it really wasn’t that hard. The kit was so easy! We blew up the balloons with helium then attached them to the garland by pushing the knot through the holes. We didn’t really follow a pattern, but just made it as random as possible. I will say that they did deflate a bit overnight, but it turned out fine!

birthday girl

Giulietta wore a beautiful rose romper that my MIL made for her. It was so perfect for her party. She also had a flower crown that was so adorable on her! My Mom ordered a really cute pearl bib for her to wear while eating—it was so sweet!

It was such a fun day and Gigi loved eating her smash cake! I love how everything turned out and it was so great being able to have a little celebration for her!
