Shark and Mermaid Kids Birthday Party

Shark and Mermaid Kids Birthday Party

We had the kids birthday party this past weekend and we did a shark and mermaid theme.

See Giulietta’s birthday last year HERE and Dominic’s birthday last year HERE.

We decided to do a joint birthday party for the kids this year and it was so much fun with the shark and mermaid theme!

We have never done a joint birthday for Dominic and Giulietta, but we figured this year would be a good time to do one. It was so much fun and it turned out so cute!

I went with a shark and mermaid theme and it was so easy to pull together. There are so many shark and mermaid themed party decor pieces that it made for a really easy theme.

Dominic turns 4 next week and Giulietta turned 2 in August. We loved celebrating them together!

Clams Casino
Shrimp cocktail

We went with some fun and delicious themed food for appetizers such as clams casino dip, shrimp cocktail, seaweed dip (guacamole), fish food (black bean salsa), and a goldfish bar for the kiddos. For the main meal we did pizzas in the Ooni Pizza oven which cooks the pizza in about 90 seconds. They are amazing! For dessert, we had a local ice cream shops’ food truck come to the house and everyone got to have their own ice cream sundae—everyone loved it!

For decor, I just decorated the table where the appetizers were set up. I think it makes the biggest impact and it’s a big wall to easily decorate. I found these underwater looking backdrops and stuck them on the wall. Then I made a giant balloon arch with pastel ocean colors. We did the mermaid side with more pinks and purples and the shark side with more greens and blues. I found these fun bubble garlands and hung them on the wall. Lastly, I used a big shark and mermaid balloon along with a 2 and a 4 balloon. The perfect backdrop for all the ‘underwater’ themed food.

Plates

On the table, my MIL made a turquoise colored tablecloth with frayed edges to look like the ocean. On top, I put down another bubble garland and an ocean colored pom pom garland. We found some shark keychains for favors and used the extra on the table.

It turned out so cute and the kids LOVED it! I found a cool shark shirt for Dominic and a beautiful tulle dress for Gigi too!

It was a beautiful day and we had the best time with our family!
