Entry Way Makeover Part 3

It's time for another update on our entry way makeover so here is part 3!

Catch up with the makeover with part 1 and part 2!

This entryway makeover has been a lot of work, but we are so excited to be almost done and sharing part 3 with you!

Over the weekend we got a lot done & are seriously in the home stretch!!

We finished all the painting we needed to do which was the wall on the landing & the walls leading to the second floor!  The walls leading up to the second floor are extremely awkward & hard to reach.  We could not use a ladder so we had to use a long pole with a roller attached & then switch out the roller for an angled brush in order to get the corners.  We are so happy this part is DONE!

Another big accomplishment from this weekend was taking off the carpet runner.  The old runner was beyond ugly, dirty, & outdated.  It needed to be removed especially now that the tiles are painted & look so fresh & modern.

We have never removed carpet before so this was a first for us & it really wasn't that hard!  The runner was held down by gold poles that were screwed into the stairs so we started by taking those off.  Then the carpet was stapled into the steps.

I kept referring to John Paul as Chip Gaines which I think he LOVED!  He did such a great job ripping out that carpet & getting rid of all the extra staples in the steps.  It looks a thousand times better now with just the natural wood stairs.

I thought the stairs may be discolored under the carpet, but they aren't.  You can't even tell there was carpeting except for the fact that there are still holes in the stairs that need to be patched up.  We are planning to take off the carpet from the second floor stairs this weekend along with patching the holes & repainting the back of the stairs a fresh coat of white paint.

We may one day put down a new updated runner, but I am really loving the look without carpet so I'm trying my hardest to convince John Paul that they need to stay this way.  I think the more & more he sees the stairs, the more he's loving the hardwood.

Here is a before photo of the carpet on the stairs:

Last thing I wanted to update you on was my collected, vintage themed gallery wall. Our previous gallery wall had a lot of our wedding photos, but I decided I wanted a change & a new look. I love this curated look with all the different textures & dimensions.  Because it is a collection of old, vintage, & new pieces it will constantly be evolving. I still need some more items for it, but I wanted to share what it looks like right now because I just love it. Some of my favorite shops are represented on this wall!

I hope you enjoyed our 3rd installment of our entry way makeover.  This entryway has come a long way from when we first started & I can't wait to share the final reveal in the next few weeks.
