Organic Modern Kitchen Ideas

Planning out our organic modern kitchen has been so fun and I am filled with ideas!

I loved our last kitchen, HERE, but I am planning something different for this house.

I’m going for some very organic yet modern vibes in our kitchen with lots of texture, some color, natural elements, sleek lines, and more.

You guys…..I CANNOT CONTAIN MY EXCITEMENT THAT WE ARE UPDATING OUR KITCHEN!!!!! Literally, I have dreamed of this kitchen makeover since we saw this house in May! I am not kidding, I had this vision and it is finally coming to fruition which is so exciting!

I want our kitchen to feel timeless, but I do want to add some flair to it. I am calling this an organic modern style kitchen. I guess eclectic would work too.

KITCHEN IDEAS

Our kitchen is very small in terms of cabinets and countertops. We have 2 small drawers so fitting silverware has been a challenge. We needed more storage and countertop space as we love to cook.

First thing, we did was change out the lighting. I knew I wanted vintage brass/gold lights. We had the lights changed when we first moved in. We added a pendant above the sink and swapped out the old fan for this new one.

We knew we wanted to add more cabinet and counter space so we bought these cabinets from Home Depot. Very simple, but adds so much extra storage and space.

If you have been following on my IG stories, you will have seen that we have started to update the kitchen by having a concrete countertop installed on the new cabinets. I will have an entire post on the counters soon!

We will be hanging up open shelving above the concrete cabinets. They are a vintage white color and matte black brackets. They will be fun to style with decor and functional items such as our daily bowls/plates/mugs/etc.

On the other side of the kitchen, we just ordered new quartz counters from Home Depot! I am SOOOOO excited about them! We have never had anything other than laminate countertops so this feels amazing to say! It may sound silly, but I could cry at how happy I am that we are getting these new counters. They are a big investment and not something we are taking for granted.

We are going to paint the cabinets that will have the quartz counters. We are trying to decide on the shade of green, but we are going with a sage/olive green on the lower cabinets and the upper cabinets will be color matched to the white cabinets with the concrete to ensure it all flows nicely.

Eventually, we will add a backsplash, which can’t be done until after the counters are installed. I love the picket subway tile with a dark gray grout. We will see as we still have some time to decide.

We are also updating our sink which I am so grateful for! Ours is a double sink right now and it’s not functioning well for us. I much prefer a single larger sink. We are doing an undermount sink in white.

Lastly, we will switch out the hardware to a matte black. I haven’t decided on hardware yet, but I am thinking maybe something along the lines of bin pulls, knobs, and long handles.

KITCHEN PLANS IN THE FUTURE

For the future, we will update the appliances. We are going to keep an eye out for any sales on things, but for now, they are all in good working condition so they will stay. I would love to do all white appliances or the black stainless steel.

We are still undecided about the flooring. We probably won’t replace it any time soon, however, I may paint it gray to look like concrete. I’m not sure if I am ambitious enough for that right now, but we will see! I would love to have concrete hexagon tile, but that is on the wish list for now, which is totally OK!

I hope that my vision is translating to you as I am SO excited to see this all come together! I just love the whole mix of natural elements from the concrete and plants mixed with the sleek quartz and gold lights to the pop of green cabinets and touches of matte black. It feels very earthy to me and makes me want to be in the kitchen cooking and baking even more!

This is truly a dream come true to be able to do these updates to our kitchen. I am so excited to take you along and I hope you will enjoy this process as we start this little makeover!
