Dominic Turns 2

Dominic turns 2 today, how in the world is this possible?!

Read all about him turning 1, HERE.

I truly can’t believe that Dominic turns 2 today, but I have loved this past year and watching him grow and learn tons of new things!

What a crazy year it has been! We added a little sibling for Dominic so the year has just flown by even faster than normal, I feel!

Dominic is 2 years old, I can’t believe I officially have a 2 year old! It feels like yesterday that he was born and now he’s a full blown toddler.

First off, Dominic is such a love! He is so sweet and caring. He still has a very laid back personality and is so patient with his friends and sister. He definitely has his moments of not being so relaxed, but that is all part of being a toddler and showing his independence.

He runs, jumps, climbs, dances, and spins all over the place. He has so much energy that I wish I could bottle up for myself some days!

Dominic loves his puzzles, blocks, letters, little figurines, and balls. He can sit for a decent amount of time playing with these toys, it’s pretty amazing to see his attention span increasing while he is engaged with something he loves!

D loves anything related to a bus, truck, car, Elmo, or Paw Patrol. He can point these things out ANYWHERE! We can be shopping and he will spot a Paw Patrol character in the most random of places.

He loves to play outside collecting sticks, rocks, and leaves. He doesn’t mind getting dirty and playing in the mud. He loves puddles and finding random things outside.

Eating has been a little tough lately! He used to eat anything we would give him, but these days it’s a toss up if he will eat what we give him. We can almost always count on peanut butter though! Veggies are almost non existent in his diet although we try daily! We still offer him everything we used to, but sometimes he just won’t eat it.

He has almost all his teeth except for his 2 year old molars. He loves brushing his teeth and thinks it’s so fun when we have him help us brush his teeth! We are thinking a dentist visit is in the near future for him.

Dominic is talking a lot these days! Just these past few weeks his vocabulary has really increased. He can string together a few sentences and can repeat a lot of words that we tell him to say. It’s pretty amazing watching him go from just saying sounds of words to understanding what he is saying. Not every word he says is completely understandable, but from spending so much time with him, I can decipher what he is trying to say for the most part.

Dominic can point out letters. He loves reciting them after us and if an ABC song comes on, he loves it! He likes when we draw the letters and he says what they are. He has an Elmo letter toy and tons of letter magnets that I think have helped him learn a lot of his letters.

He’s sleeping pretty well. He has his off nights, but for the most part sleeps from 7pm until 7am/8am. He has been fighting sleep a little bit for the first 30 or so minutes, but then seems to be fine. He still takes one 2-3 hour nap during the day.

2 Year Old Schedule:

  • 7-8am: wake up, have breakfast, get dressed

  • 9am-12pm: play time, errands, walk, playground

    • snack around 10am

  • 12pm: lunch time

  • 12:30pm/1pm: nap time

  • 3pm-5pm: play time, errands, walk

  • 5pm/5:30pm: dinner time

  • 6pm-7pm: play time, bath

  • 7pm: bed time

Although this stage is physically tiring, it is so rewarding seeing him learn so much each day. He is growing into such a little man and losing his ‘baby looks.’ I love watching him become independent and do things on his own. It’s pretty special to think we taught him all he knows right now!

This year has been so bittersweet as he grew from a baby to a toddler in the blink of an eye. He is kind and loving, but tough and spirited—truly the perfect mix!

We love you so much, Dominic Anthony! Always be your happy little self! Happy birthday, little bear!!!

Thank you for loving on Dominic throughout this past year, you are so kind to care about him and our family!
