Fall brings lots of cooler temperatures which makes me want to snuggle up and cozy up on the couch. I love adding some small fall touches to the living room to bring in the season’s colors. This year, I wanted to keep our living room simple, but up the cozy factor!

I didn’t opt for any pumpkins as I really want to stick with the colors and textures of the fall season. I may eventually add in some real pumpkins, but decided I didn’t want any faux pumpkins in here. I wanted to try and explore the season’s feelings rather than the literal objects for fall. I feel in doing this, I can extend this decor long past the fall and into the winter and maybe even into spring with the pops of yellow!

This may not be conventional fall decor, but I love it! It’s so cozy and this view in our living room is now my favorite space! Walmart Home has so many fun things for fall. With lots of people turning to more widespread spaces, Walmart’s fall decor is geared towards lots of patterns and designs based off of Southwestern themes. Walmart’s fall selection is so perfect for all the cozy feelings of the season, plus it's afforable!

TIPS FOR COZY FALL DECOR

I like to take everything out of the space I am decorating, so I start with a blank slate. This gives me a more clear idea of what I am working with, without any distraction from past decor.

Think of the colors of the season and what resonates with you most. I love the changing of the leaves—the mustard yellows, rusty reds, burnt oranges. The days are getting shorter so it’s darker earlier so I think of black and darker/moody colors.

When the temps drop, I want to be warm so lots of chunky texture and added layers come into play. I think patterns are fun to play with in the fall too. Plaids, checks, and lines.

I love a little glow too. Twinkle lights add warmth and invite you in to cozy up.

FALL DECOR

This wall in our living room has always been bare and empty because I was unsure what I wanted to do here. I found this gorgeous piece of artwork from Walmart and I instantly knew what I would do. It’s the perfect colors for fall, but the scene can work past fall. It’s 20”x20” so to make it appear bigger, I painted an arch on the wall to add more dimension and texture to the wall.

I swapped out all the pillows for fall colors and textures. These yellow pillow covers (sold out, but here is another beautiful option) are the perfect mustard color with a slight plaid pattern. I also wanted to add some black pillows with texture. This pillow cover with the diamond pattern and the tassles is so soft and cozy. The triangle pillow cover is a nice blend of light and dark colors. I love the mix of the different patterns to give lots of texture which makes this space extra cozy.

I love a good throw blanket. To bring in more pattern and moodiness, I found this check blanket at Walmart. It’s lightweight, but still warm. It drapes so well and just calls you to come and relax.

I wanted to add a fun and simple centerpiece to the coffee table. These lanterns are beautiful! The large (6"x6") and small (5.1"x5.1") size add some nice height. They are such good quality with the glass panes and metal details. I put some battery operated candles inside to bring in some warmth and glow. No space is complete without a plant in my opinion so I had to add one!

I love how cozy and welcoming our living room is for fall. These colors really speak to me and I love how they will inspire me all season long. Fall doesn’t have to be pumpkins, it can be a feeling of peace, coziness, and change.
