I have a few planters lying around the house from plants that have outgrown them. I decided to repurpose one and try my hand at a face planter.

Planter before

I have had my eye on these cute face planters for some time now. I think they are fun and add some whimsical vibes to a home.

I was in the mood for a quick little DIY so I thought, let me try making one of those face planters myself! It turned out so cute and it was SO simple!

Supplies for the planter

SUPPLIES:

  • Planter, any size, shape, color

  • Chalk paint, any color

  • 1 tbsp of flour

  • Paint brush

  • Sharpie

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Clean your planter really well and make sure it’s dry

  2. Mix together the 1 tbsp of flour with about a cup of chalk paint. I didn’t actually measure, I just made sure that the flour was well mixed in. I did add a little extra paint so it wasn’t really chunky.

  3. Start painting the planter. This was super easy and I just slapped it on. It is very thick, so it some spots, I patted it on to cover up the old planter

  4. Allow to dry. I let mine dry overnight since it was thick in some parts

  5. Practice the face you want on the planter. I tried a few before deciding on the one I wanted

  6. Use the sharpie to draw the face on the planter. If you mess up, you can paint over it!

  7. Put your plant in the planter and enjoy it!

Practicing faces

Literally, the easiest DIY project! I think it’s so cute and looks fun on our countertop. I love how the plant looks like hair coming out of the top of the planter too!

The possibilities are endless! You could do different colored paint, you can do different colored sharpie. All different emotions for faces. It’s so easy to do! It gave this old planter a new life and it didn’t cost a thing, since I already had all of the supplies.

What do you think of my face planter???
