The Mother-Load!

So last week I happened to be in the basement putting things away.  Now I want to paint a picture for you of our basement.  Our house was built in 1900 so the basement really has not seen much love and attention.  There are lots of little rooms with shelving and it's very dark.  I try to avoid the basement at all costs.  The only exception is to do laundry, but I try to make that a quick task so I don't have to spend any more time down there than necessary.

Back to my Mother-load story!  So I was putting away our chalk paint/brushes from our DIY project and I decided to open one of the doors to these rooms.  To my SURPRISE I found this AMAZING barn door.  Literally, all I had to do was open the door and look at the back of it to find this gem!  So I obviously had to open the rest of the doors to see what other treasures I was missing out on.  What do you know, TWO MORE BARN DOORS!!!!!

I called John Paul and said I hit the Mother-load in the basement!!!  His response....did you find money down there?!?!  No, I did not find money, but I feel like I found gold finding these doors.

We took down the door, I cleaned it up and it fit perfectly in this huge corner of our living room. This corner needed a big piece of furniture/decor/art because the walls are so tall. This was so meant to be and I love all the character it adds to the room.  I love the history of it and knowing that it came from our home is so special to me.

What do you think of my find?!  I already have plans for the other 2 doors..stay tuned!
