The Easiest & Cheapest Ways to Update the Kitchen

The Easiest & Cheapest Ways to Update the Kitchen

There are some easy and cheap ways to update your kitchen!

Our kitchen has come a long way, see the start to the makeover HERE.

Today I am going to share the easiest and cheapest ways to update the kitchen!

Kitchen updates

Our home was built in 1900 so as much character as there is in the house, there are certainly a lot of quirks that come with it.  When we first saw this house, we loved the kitchen cabinets.  There is SO much storage, in fact, the highest cabinets don't have anything in them because we can't reach them & we don't have that much stuff.

We never really loved the entire kitchen (back splash & counter tops), but we have not had the budget to do a full remodel of it.  We have, however put a little sweat equity into the kitchen to update it as much as we possibly can without spending a ton of money.

First is PAINT.  I won't go too much into detail here because I did a whole post on painting the kitchen & the transformation it made so you can read that HERE.  Paint is one of the easiest things you can do to transform a space.  Yes, it can be time consuming, but the after is SO worth it!

Second is CHANGING THE HARDWARE.  This one is by far the quickest & cheapest way to update the kitchen.  We have 45 handles/pulls in our kitchen so there was a good amount to replace & we were able to switch them all out for under $100!

These are the ones we have HERE & HERE (Amazon Prime!!). There are so many good options on Amazon! I found that ordering from Amazon was the least expensive option for cabinet hardware compared to Home Depot or Lowe's.

When choosing hardware, be sure to measure the distance between the screws in the current drawer pulls because there are different sizes & you want to make sure you are ordering the correct size.

Also, the door handles may need longer screws (ours did) which you can also pick up on Amazon. The doors can be thicker than the screws that are provided when you purchase the pulls so just be aware that you may need to get new screws. This was also calculated as part of revamping for under $100!

Our old cabinet hardware was very outdated, coming loose, & just not our style.  By switching it out, we automatically transformed the kitchen.  It may be a small change, but it has big impacts!  See the before below:
