Pizzelle Recipe

I love baking!  Tonight, we decided to make some Pizzelles.

Both of our families have some really special traditions with Pizzelles.  My Grandmother has an amazing recipe that she used to make.  She was never an Anise fan so her recipe did not include any Anise.  My Father-in-Law has the old school Pizzelle Press that he uses over the stove.  He uses real Anise seeds.  Both are so yummy!  We love our recipe too!  Our first Christmas together (2012) John Paul got me this handy little Pizzelle maker.

Pizzelle machine

After you make the batter (which is super easy!), you put a little drop of it into this machine, press it down for about a minute, and you have the cutest little Pizzelles EVER!

INGREDIENTS:

6 Eggs
1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
2 or more teaspoons Vanilla or Anise extract (We use 2 Tsp Anise and 1 Tsp Vanilla)
3 cups All Purpose Flour
2 teaspoons Baking Powder
1 1/2 cups Sugar

DIRECTIONS:

1. Beat Eggs until smooth then add the oil and extracts
2. Add Flour, Baking Powder, and Sugar
3. Once all combined, add about a teaspoon to each spot on the Pizzelle Machine

These little babies are cooling off before they head into a cookie tray!  Don't worry, a lot made it into our bellies :)

These are all packed up and ready to go to work with John Paul tomorrow.  Since this recipe makes about 100, we love sharing them!

Pizzelles

They're so pretty with a little dusting of SNOW (powdered sugar)!!

I hope you are getting ready for Santa to come!  The Aratari Household is ready!
