Nontraditional Easter Ideas

Nontraditional Easter Ideas

Through these unprecedented times, Easter is going to be a bit nontraditional this year so I came up with some ideas to still make it a fun celebration!

Try our family recipe for Easter bread, HERE.

I’m hoping these nontraditional Easter ideas, bring you some joy as we celebrate this holiday a bit differently this year!

Since we won’t be celebrating Easter with our extended family this year, I have been trying to think of ways we could make the day special at home. Of course you don’t have to do anything elaborate, but I wanted to share some ideas, in case you were looking for new ways to celebrate at home.

I still want to remember this Easter as a fun day because it will be Giulietta’s first Easter.

EASTER CELEBRATIONS AT HOME

We will be tuning into our Mass service online. Our church has been sharing Mass online since quarantine began. I’m so excited to watch it for Easter, I know it will be special. You can watch our service here.

We will be dying eggs on the day before Easter. Usually we dye eggs a few days beforehand, but I figured it would be fun to do Easter weekend as a family.

We plan to eat the Easter bread for breakfast while watching Easter Mass. An Easter Mass picnic, if you will.

I’m going to put the kids in their Easter outfits. This is Giulietta’s 1st Easter so I still want to have these memories and moments with her. I of course will take tons of photos of them in their Easter best!

We will also be doing the traditional Easter egg hunt around our house and yard. We have actually never done an egg hunt at our house as we have always celebrated Easter somewhere else so I think it will be fun to be the Easter bunny this year.

Lastly, we plan to make a yummy dinner. We are thinking either something in the smoker or homemade pasta with our sauce (HERE).

OTHER NONTRADITIONAL EASTER IDEAS

  • Have family drive by and celebrate Easter from the driveway.

  • Do a big brunch

  • Inside treasure hunt

  • Make the same food as normal, but smaller portions

  • Drop off gifts to loved ones on the porch/front steps

  • Dinner exchange—drop off different meals to family so that everyone can try something new

  • Make a new meal that you haven’t made before

  • Hide the Easter basket goodies around the house for the kids to find

We can still make the best of this Easter while in quarantine. It’s such a sacred day and I think it’s important to celebrate and enjoy all the extra family time. We have lots to be grateful for and I think we will be reminded of that even more so on Easter.

You could even try my grateful challenge HERE on Easter with your family.
