Non Toxic Switches We Have Made

Non Toxic Switches We Have Made

As you probably know, we have made the switch to a lot of non toxic common household products.

This journey began when we started using essential oils.

The non toxic switches we have made have helped to boost our immunity and overall wellness! We could not be happier with these switches and will continue to live our lives this way!

Dominic with Maty's

Ever since starting to use essential oils, I have been looking up all the products we have been using to see how they can affect our day to day life and if there is a more non toxic option out there. Luckily, I have been able to find lots of alternatives that work even better than what we had been using!

Do your research on the products that you are using each day. Look on the EWG website to see what products you use are rated. This is what I did when I first started using my oils.

If you grab your starter kit, you would have access to tons of research in our FB groups on common household products and how to switch these products out for a non toxic version! It is eye opening and will make you want to switch all the things!

NON TOXIC SWITCHES

Wool Dryer Balls: We no longer use dryer sheets. We use wool dryer balls and place a few drops of essential oils on the balls before tossing in the dryer. It cuts down dryer time and makes our clothes so soft and they smell good!

Body Wash: I started using Young Living’s Lavender Shower Gel and I love it! I diluted mine to make it last longer, but it is so amazing. It doesn’t bother my sensitive skin and it smells so good. I feel like I am at a spa when I shower. It has not chemicals or artificial fragrances in it.

Deodorant: My underarms have always been super sensitive and I have never been able to find a good deodorant that doesn’t cause a rash. The rash would go away, but it would always come back. That is until I started using the deodorant from Young Living. I have been using it for about 3 months now and have had no rashes! I can’t say enough good things about this deodorant!

Cleansing Oil: I don’t use makeup wipes anymore. They always dried my skin out and made it more red. I use Mirah Cleansing Oil instead and it removes my makeup and cleanses my skin. I love how soft my skin feels after using it. I use 2 pumps each night, rub on my face, then rinse with warm water. I love it!

Thieves Cleaner: We use this cleaner for literally EVERYTHING! Windows, counters, floors, walls, mirrors, high chair, plants, sinks, toilets, showers, couches, tables, etc. John Paul was a bleach lover prior to using Thieves and now he says he will never go back to bleach! This cleaner is amazing and it has no chemicals so I feel good about using it around Dominic and Freddy.

Thieves Laundry Soap: This laundry soap is amazing! It is so concentrated that I only use a little bit each load of laundry. I am even washing all of baby girl’s clothes with it rather than using special baby laundry detergent.

Thieves Hand Soap: We use this in the kitchen and all the bathrooms. It smells so amazing and leaves your hands feeling soft. It doesn’t dry out your hands or leave them red and cracked.

Baby Lotion: Dominic has very sensitive skin so I have been using Tubby Todd and Maty’s products on him to keep his skin moisturized. We love these products as they are all natural and chemical free. They don’t bother his skin either.

Purified Drinking Water: We started using the Primo Water Dispenser a few months back and we love it! It has helped us to drink more water each day. I have a whole post on the benefits of purified water HERE.

Room Sprays: We no longer buy room fresheners, I make my own using essential oils. They refresh our house without spraying a bunch of chemicals all over the place. These room sprays eradicate odors rather than just covering them up. See my favorite room spray recipes HERE.

Perfume: I would always get headaches when wearing perfumes because the smells were just so strong and overbearing. I started to make my own perfumes using essential oils and I no longer get those headaches. They all smell so good and you can customize the perfumes to your favorite smells. Here are my favorite perfume recipes.

Glass Food Storage: This one we are still working on, but have slowly started to switch over our plastic food storage containers to glass ones. We eat a lot of leftovers for lunch so storing our food in glass containers is much better for us. We would be basically eating the plastic that the food was stored in….gross! We still have some plastic containers, but as they get damaged or lost, we replace them with glass ones!

Sunscreen: This is a true testimony: Over the weekend, I put sunscreen on Dominic and he had a reaction on his legs. I did some research on the sunscreen and saw that it wasn’t a great option so I decided to try out Think Baby as it was ranked a 1 on the EWG website. We used it for the rest of the weekend and he had no reaction! Just goes to show that non toxic products are better for us!

Diffusing Oils: We no longer use candles in our home! I loved candles for their cozy glow and yummy scents, however they can be very toxic when they burn. Read these articles here and here for more info. I now diffuse oils and they smell even better because they are pure! All the diffusers I have, have a flicker setting so I can still get that cozy vibe I love.

I am still slowly switching over products. I do transfer buying so I will use up whatever product I have and then replace it when it’s gone with a less toxic product. Some examples that I am still working on are shampoo and conditioner, dishwashing detergent, plastic food storage bags, makeup, nail polish, plus more!

This is not something we have done overnight. This makes it not so overwhelming, more budget friendly and not wasteful.

You can definitely do this too! Start with 1 thing and switch today! Then next week do another switch and so on! You will see that over time you are living a more non toxic and chemical free life!
