Farmer's Market Favorites

We love going to the farmer’s market and picking up local goods so I thought I would share our favorites!

There is nothing like fresh veggies to use in my quinoa salad recipe.

From local produce to flowers to baked goods and more, these are some of our favorite items from the farmer’s market!

Plums at the farmer's market

During the summer, we love hitting up the farmer’s market every once in a while. We have one in our town that is kind of small, but we still like to check it out. Our favorite one to go to is the one in downtown Buffalo as they have a wide assortment of farmers, veggies, fruits, flowers, meats, baked goods, honey, and more!

I know each farmer’s market is different, but I thought it would be fun to share our favorite items to pick up when we go to the market. There is just something so special about being outside, picking out local made goods, and sipping on iced coffee! It just screams summer to me!

FARMER’S MARKET GAME PLAN

We like to make a whole morning out of it and either get breakfast at the farmer’s market or go somewhere beforehand. We hold off on coffee until we get to the market as there is always some local coffee shop(s) there that sell delicious coffee!

We like to get our coffees then walk around once and see what is available at the market that day. We do this so we kind of have a game plan as to what we want to buy.

We always plan out what meals we are making for the week, except for when we go to the farmer’s market as the offerings kind of dictate what we are going to make that week. We then go to the grocery store later on to fill in what we are missing for food that week.

Below are lists of items we find at our farmer’s markets along with some of your finds!

EXTRAS

Our farmer’s market also has a mix of meat, baked goods, eggs, honey, pickles, sauces, pasta, and beer.

Each week is different, but we tend to see these extra items frequently.

OUR FARMER’S MARKET HAUL

This week we picked up a head of lettuce which is a mix between romaine and green leaf, yellow plums, blueberries, carrots, cucumber, yellow squash, flowers, and coffee!

We plan to do a big salad with the lettuce, carrots, and cucumber. We will snack on the blueberries and plums throughout the week. The squash we will either grill or roast. We also plan to pickle some of the carrots for asian style burgers.

I love getting creative with our finds from the farmer’s market. It makes us think outside the box for meals for the week sometimes which makes things a bit more fun!
