I love decorating the porch for Christmas using these easy tips!

Using these easy tips, decorating the porch for Christmas is quick, festive, and magical!

One of my favorite parts of the Christmas season is seeing all the lights at night. I think it’s so magical so I love adding lights to our porch each year.

It can be tedious to put up lights, but I found some tips that have helped us achieve a really pretty porch in no time! I also have some tricks for hanging wreaths and garland.

First thing to do is head to Walmart to grab your supplies! I love using the below from Command™ for my porch, but browse all the options HERE. I love that these won't damage the exterior of our home and require no tools for installation--makes for quick decorating especially since it's already so cold outside.

SUPPLIES NEEDED

  • Command™ Indoor/Outdoor Light Clip

  • Command™ Medium Designer Hooks

  • Command™ Small Wire Hooks

  • Lights

  • Decor of your choice (wreaths, garland, trees, sleds, etc!)

TIPS FOR HANGING LIGHTS

  • Decide on where you will be putting the lights on your porch/house/doorway

  • Lay out the lights and plug them in to make sure they all light

    • Connect multiple strands together

  • Start at one end, clean the area, and take the Command™ Indoor/Outdoor Light Clips and place them along the path of the lights

    • I like to place them every 1.5 feet-2 feet so that the lights don’t droop too low

    • They attach to our window sills so easily

    • Wait an hour before stringing lights

    • Place them in varying directions when going vertically—it helps keep the strand of lights in place

    • Place them up and down when going horizontally

  • String up the lights, hooking them into the Command™ Indoor/Outdoor Light Clips as you go

TIPS FOR HANGING WREATHS

  • Decide on where you would like the wreaths

    • I like hanging them on my front door and the middle of the windows

  • Make sure they have a backing to hang from or tie a ribbon/string/twine around it so it’s easier to hang

  • Clean the area before attaching the Command™ Medium Designer Hooks

    • Wait 30 minutes before hanging anything

  • Hang the wreath from the Command® Medium Designer Hooks using Command™ outdoor strips

TIPS FOR HANGING GARLAND

  • Decide where the garland will hang

    • I like to frame our front door

  • Clean the door frame and attach the Command™ Small Wire Hooks

    • Wait 30 minutes before hanging the garland

  • Use the Command™ Small Wire Hooks in the corners and at the end of the garland for added strength

For final touches, I added a faux Christmas tree, a cute doormat, a vintage sled, and bundled up garland around the door. The porch is merry and bright now!

We were able to decorate our entire porch during the kids nap time! Using Command™ products, stringing up the lights was so easy.
