Real Christmas Tree Decor

I love having a real Christmas tree and decorating it with our family.

See the playroom faux trees HERE.

I love using simple decor for our real Christmas tree!

We always love getting a real Christmas tree. I think it adds so much coziness to our home and the smell is the best! I do love faux trees too, but I think we will always have a real tree along with the faux ones. I always had a real tree growing up so it’s kind of a tradition to have a real tree.

I love using our real Christmas tree as our main tree in our living room. I don’t really over decorate it either. I like having the real branches be the star of the show.

CHRISTMAS TREE ORNAMENTS

I like using our family’s collected ornaments on it. We have a mix of ornaments from when John Paul and I were first dating to ornaments that we have gotten for the kids to some shatterproof ornaments. I like the mix of personal ornaments to a more curated collection of bulb ornaments.

This year I went with red, white, gold, and silver shatterproof ornaments. It’s a good thing too because the kids are VERY into the tree this year. Basically, the entire bottom of the tree is always missing ornaments from the kids taking them off.

I did add some red ribbon bows for some fillers. I love the sweet details they add.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS + TOPPER

I always love using warm white Christmas lights. I just love the glow of the warm white lights. I also layer in big bulb warm glow lights. I love the mix of the lights.

This year, we got a new tree topper and I LOVE it! It’s a capiz star and I am obsessed! It matches my dining room light and the lamp I found on the side of the street that’s on an end table in the living room. I just love capiz and I think it’s such a fun modern touch on a more vintage/nostalgic tree.

TREE SKIRT

I rarely use an actual tree skirt. I used this piece of eyelet white fabric I have had for a few years now. I love it draped around the tree and it makes watering super easy by just pulling it back. I think it adds so much charm and character to the tree.

CHRISTMAS DECOR

Our living room is fully decked out for Christmas which you can see how I styled the bookshelves and TV stand HERE. We did hang up this large sign behind the tree and I love how it pops out from behind the tree. The Night Before Christmas is one of my favorite stories at Christmastime and one of my traditions is to buy a new version of the book each season to add to my growing collection. It only makes sense to have this sign and I love how it looks like a vintage book page.

On the pink side table, I added our nativity. I think it’s so perfect next to our tree as the kids can easily look at it and play with it.

I love having throw pillows around for lounging and watching movies on the floor, if we want! This plaid throw pillow has been a ‘bed’ for Dominic many times this season as he loves laying on the floor to watch a movie!

We had to move furniture around in the living room in order to fit the tree, but I love it! I think it feels very homey and comfy.
