Mantle Makeover

Mantle Makeover

I've always wanted a fireplace. When we found this home & it had a fireplace, I was thrilled! It's also wood burning, which is so amazing. The only thing is I didn't like how it looked. We don't have a budget to redo the entire fireplace area right now so I decided to take a little paint to it & see what happened. I knew it couldn't get any worse, right?

Before

As you can see, the mantle was this greenish color with a white wall backdrop.  The whole living room is painted a light tan which we eventually want to change.  I just did not like the green color for our living room.  The actual fireplace is so dark & this is the focal part of the room that I wanted to brighten up this space.

In comes some left over Behr Silent White paint which we used in our Sun Room.  This paint is not the same color as the white wall backdrop so I was a little concerned that it would look strange.  To be honest, it really doesn't look bad at all!  I actually loved how this turned out.  Such a quick & easy fix.  I am sure eventually down the line we will redo this entire fireplace, I'm thinking some shiplap & brick, but for now this is MUCH better than before.

I know it's not much, but I wanted to show what a little paint can do to a space.  What do you think of my mantle makeover?
